The Historic Preservation Guild Memorial Scholarship

The Historic Preservation Guild of Hancock County, officially chartered in 1973, believes that historic sites in Findlay and Hancock County need to be preserved. As part of our mission statement, education is a key element in preserving historical sites. With the addition of a permanent scholarship given to those who would promote our mission, the Guild is fulfilling an important function to our historical heritage.

Standards for Determining Eligibility of Students

This scholarship is for a student who intends to pursue a career in or closely related to historic preservation. The student may be in their undergraduate or graduate studies, majoring in order of preference, in historic preservation, architecture, or history education at an accredited university or college. Numerous factors other than the applicant’s major will be considered in the selection process.

•     The applicant must be a full-time student attending a four-year accredited university or college of their choosing.

•     The student must be able to demonstrate a commitment to historic preservation, either by way of previous studies or involvement with historic preservation. I.e. completed volunteer hours at the Hancock Historical Museum or a like agency focused on promoting historic preservation/education.

•     Students who receive full scholarship support from other organizations or institutions will not be considered for this scholarship.

•     The applicant must have maintained a GPA of 3.0 in the designated course of study

•     Financial need is a primary consideration.

•     The applicant must be a citizen of the United States of America and a resident of Hancock County.
