Give to this Fund

In 2010, the Findlay High School Class of 1951 commissioned fellow classmate, Merle Hummel, to create a bronze Trojan head to be prominently displayed in the newly renovated Findlay High School courtyard.

“…this Trojan bronze plaque was designed to represent the wishes of the entire class of ’51… The plaque was also thought to be a memorial to… top classmates who brought honor to our class… (as) officers in the service of our freedom. In the end, the project became more than just a way to memorialize individuals or the class of ’51. The plaque became a tribute to the school which fostered our class. Yet, as many classes before us and after us, we were part of a great generation. We graduated teachers, professors, doctors, dentists, lawyers, judges, business people, craftsmen, artists, coaches, athletes, and professional men and women in all walks of family life. We hope the bronze plaque will inspire other classes to reach for their dreams. Remember you have the field of the universe in which to play. From all of the Trojans of class of ’51, THANK YOU to the Findlay Senior High.” — Merle Hummel

The class of ’51 exceeded their original goal of funding the plaque and chose to use the remaining funds to fund a scholarship that will ensure future classes of Findlay High School can continue to “reach for their dreams.” The class continues to raise additional funds to support this scholarship.
