Rawson Proud Surprise

In preparation for its 25th anniversary, The Community Foundation board of trustees set aside $25,000 for rural communities in 2017. Through a competitive application process, three communities received grants. Fostoria received the first grant of $2,245.

The second recipient was the Rawson Proud committee. This group of dedicated Rawson residents works to improve their community by hosting a village festival, communicating with residents and other events. The committee a $1,325 grant to install message boards in the village park and create welcome bags for new residents.

“The two projects were brought forth by people of the community. Rawson Proud is thankful for the grant from The Community Foundation and hopes to continue to work with them for the betterment of Rawson,” Rick Essinger, Rawson Proud Committee Chair

The Community Foundation staff members stopped by a Rawson Proud committee meeting to deliver the good news. The committee was under the impression that we would be asking questions about their application, but were pleasantly surprised when we brought out the big check!
