Sharon (Hengsteler) Craig is a lifelong Arcadia resident with deep ties to Arcadia School. Sharon’s connection goes as far back as the first school in Arcadia in the 1830s, where her grandfather Isaac Wiseman was the first teacher.

Sharon is a 1960 graduate of Arcadia High School. Her passion for music blossomed during her time in school where she learned under instructor Katherine Barnes. In school Sharon was active in music and choir, performing in several musicals. After graduating, Sharon continued performing as a pianist for choirs and church organist at Trinity Lutheran Church in Arcadia for 50 years. She has four children and enjoys traveling.

Sharon established this scholarship for a graduating senior or non-high school senior of Arcadia High School entering their freshman year with a maximum GPA of 3.5 who demonstrates financial need.

Standards for Determining Eligibility

  • The applicant must be a graduating senior of Arcadia High School or a non-high school senior entering at least freshman year of undergraduate study.
  • The applicant must plan to be a full-time or part-time student enrolled for their first year at an accredited technical, two-year, or four-year institution.
  • Applicant must be a citizen of the United States of America.
  • Applicant must have a maximum of a 3 .5 GPA.
  • Basis for Award is on Merit and Financial Need.
  • Preference given to students intending to pursue Music or Agriculture course of study.
  • Preference given to students with the particular skill of music and/or agriculture.
  • Any student who receives a full scholarship that includes all the fees normally payable by policy of the Community Foundation will not qualify for this Scholarship.
