The Roy V. Armes Scholarship was established to honor Cooper Tire & Rubber Co. Chief Executive, Roy Armes. Armes joined the company as president and CEO in 2007 and served in that role for nearly a decade, until his retirement on August 31, 2016. The award is for a full-time freshman student attending an accredited four-year college or university and is renewable for up to three additional years. The intention of the Fund is to award a scholarship to the child, including biological, adopted, step or via guardianship, of a current Cooper Tire & Rubber Company employee.

Standards for Determining Eligibility

  • The applicant must be a graduating high school senior and the child, either biological, adopted, step or via guardianship of a legacy Cooper Tire & Rubber Employee. An employee is identified as a U.S. citizen who was a full-time employee at a legacy Cooper Tire & Rubber Company location and is a current employee of Cooper/Goodyear. Cooper Tire & Rubber Company legacy locations are those under the Cooper name on or before June 7, 2021.
  • The applicant must be pursuing a degree in Engineering or Business.
  • The applicant must plan to be a full time student enrolled for his or her first year at an accredited four year college or university.
  • The applicant must have maintained a minimum cumulative 3.0 GPA in high school.
  • Applicant must be a resident of the United States of America.
  • Students who receive full scholarship support from other organizations or institutions will not be considered for this scholarship.
