The Mary and Glen Stover Agriculture Scholarship was established in Glen’s memory by his family in 1999. Mr. Stover was a businessman, farmer, athlete, scholar, WWII fighter pilot and coach. He retired as executive Vice President of Centrex Corporation, where he worked for nearly 30 years. After retirement he took over the operation of the family farm located in Liberty and Portage townships in Hancock County. The farm had been in the family since early in the last century. President Andrew Jackson signed the original deed to Mr. Stover’s grandfather, Philip Riemund. Mr. Stover loved to farm and ran the 450 acres himself. Mr. Stover attended Washington Elementary, Glenwood Junior High and graduated from Findlay High School in 1933. In 1937 he graduated from Ohio Wesleyan where he participated in wrestling, baseball and tennis. He was a P-38 pilot during World War II and was in the first squadron to cross the North Atlantic to England for combat. He was awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross and earned nine oak leaf clusters and later became a flight instructor and reached the rank of major before leaving the service in1948. During the 60’s and 70’s he coached teams of 9 and 12 year olds that won three league titles and served on the board of Findlay Youth Baseball.
