John P. and Nancy K. Stozich Memorial Scholarship

A native of Mingo Junction, Ohio John Stozich is best remembered as Coach Stozich who trained high school athletes in golf, baseball, basketball and was an assistant coach in football. In 1983 he was elected to the Ohio House of Representatives serving until 1991. While serving his fifth term he was appointed by Governor George V. Voinovich to serve as the Department Director for the Ohio Department of Industrial Relations serving until 1995. From 1996 to 2003 John served as the Mayor of the City of Findlay. He was awarded many honors for his support of young athletes, his church and the community.

Standard for Determining Eligibility of Students

This scholarship is to recognize the accomplishments of one male and one female.

  • The recipients will be one male and one female athlete graduating from Findlay High School who has played sports for at least two years for FHS.
  • The applicant must be a full-time student attending a four-year accredited university or college of their choosing.
  • The applicant must be able to demonstrate school and community participation.
  • The applicant must have demonstrated good attendance while attending high school.
  • The applicant must have maintained a GPA of 3.0 while at FHS.
  • The applicant must be a citizen of the United States of America.
  • Financial need is a primary consideration.
  • Students who receive full scholarship support from other organizations or institutions will not be considered for this scholarship.
