Established 2021

Chris and Gregg Ward established this scholarship in memory of Chris's dad, Jerry Droll. Jerry worked as a service technician/electrician at Nye Implement, and then in the HVAC department at Atlas Crankshaft in Fostoria. Prior to that, he served in the Army Corp of Engineers in the Korean War. He was a skilled carpenter and continued to fix things around the house until he passed away. If something broke, he would not throw it away, more likely than not, he would find a way to fix it. Jerry was proud to be an Honor Guard General and loved to play golf and garden. He grew some fine tomatoes; he and his wife, Carolyn, often canned five or six dozen quarts of pickled beets a year!

Jerry and Carolyn Droll were married 63 years before Jerry passed away in August 2019 and Carolyn soon after in December 2020. Jerry was an usher at St. Wendelin Church for over 60 years and Carolyn helped with luncheons and sewed baptismal stoles for the church. Chris and Gregg, and their family, want to honor Jerry and Carolyn's legacy of hard work and family, to honor their memory as loving parents and grandparents, by establishing a scholarship to support students who want to have a career in the "trades" such as HVAC, diesel mechanics, plumbing, welding, construction, etc.
