Golden M. Tong, born on August 4, 1896 was a long time farmer in Carey, Ohio. Golden started this scholarship through the Mary Martha Class of Carey, Ohio with the funds he earned through his cattle farming. Golden passed away in May of 1990 but his generosity will have a lasting impact on the Carey community.

Standards for Determining Eligibility

  • The applicant must be a graduating senior from Carey High School
  • The applicant must plan to be enrolled for his or her first year at an accredited two or four year college, university or technical school.
  • The applicant must have maintained a minimum cumulative 3.0 GPA in high school.
  • Preference will be given to students pursuing a career in agriculture or related fields.
  • Applicant must be a resident of the United States of America.
  • Financial need is a primary consideration
  • Students who receive full scholarship support from other organizations or institutions will not be considered for this scholarship.
