In 2006, Jim and Mahrokh (Esfandiary) Palte made the decision to give back to Jim’s home town of Glandorf, Ohio. A graduate of Ottawa-Glandorf High School, Jim, with his wife Mahrokh, would like to assist the best and brightest students of Ottawa-Glandorf High School in obtaining a university education.. They believe that a university education is an important step in the path to professional success and hope that their contribution will help many Ottawa-Glandorf graduates find success in their future. Upon graduation from Ottawa-Glandorf High School, Jim graduated from The Ohio State University with a Bachelor of Science degree in computer science. Mahrokh graduated from Reza Shah High School, Shiraz, Iran, and has a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering with a minor in Chemistry, and a Master’s Degree in Computer Engineering from the Florida Atlantic University. Jim and Mahrokh have two children, Nadia and Cameron, and reside in San Jose, California.

Standards for Determining Eligibility of Students

  • This scholarship is dedicated to the well-rounded student who has demonstrated citizenship and who has financial need and wishes to pursue a post-secondary education.
  • The applicant must be an Ottawa-Glandorf High School graduating senior.
  • The applicant will be a full-time freshman at a four-year accredited university or college.
  • Applicants attending Ohio universities will be given priority.
  • The applicant must have maintained a 3.0 GPA or above.
  • The applicant must be a citizen of the United States of America.
  • Financial need is a consideration, but not a requirement.
  • First in family to pursue post-secondary education given priority
  • Students who receive full scholarship support from other organizations or institutions will not be considered for this scholarship.
