Dick Larick Memorial Scholarship

This scholarship was created in memory of Dick Larick by his family. Learning was important to Dick and this scholarship for a student attending Bowling Green State University (BGSU) will be the best way to honor his life. Dick and Barbara both graduated from BGSU. They met during Dick's senior year and Barbara's freshman year. In 1960, they married and became Falcon Flames.

Dick graduated from BGSU with a business degree and worked in telecommunications at Marathon Oil company for 38 years. He was very active in Republican politics serving as chair of the Executive Committee. His true passion was mentoring people interested in getting involved in the political system. Dick was a member of the Hancock County Board of Elections for many years. He was service-oriented, serving on church council and on various committees at First Lutheran Church throughout the years. Dick loved Falcon Sports, especially basketball.

Standards for Determining Eligibility

  • The applicant must be a graduating senior of a Hancock County (Ohio) High School.
  • The applicant must plan to be a full-time student enrolled at Bowling Green State University.
  • Minimum GPA of3.0 or above while in high school/the most recent grading period.
  • Applicant must be a resident of Hancock County and a citizen of the United States of America.
  • Financial need is a requirement.
  • Demonstrate participation in community/volunteer service and church activities.
  • Scholarship is renewable.
  • Any student who receives a full scholarship that includes all the fees normally payable by policy of The Community Foundation will not qualify for this Scholarship.
