Established 2025

Alma R. “Elm” Jones was a lifelong member and trustee of Rawson New Hope United Methodist Church, where Alma generously gave time and talent to help with maintenance and community needs. Born in Bluffton and raised in a strong farming family, Alma grew up working the land and raising sugar beets, a foundation that shaped a lifetime of hard work and resilience.

Alma’s career reflected that same determination. She spread fertilizer for Sohigro, drove for UPS, and spent more than 30 years in the lab at Cooper Tire’s main plant. Alongside these roles, Alma continued to help on the family farm, hauling grain and driving semis. Known for “working in a man’s world,” Alma broke barriers with grace and grit. She loved woodworking, horses, and Elvis Presley, and her legacy of service and strength continues to inspire those who knew her.

Through her estate, Alma established three funds:

  • Alma Jones Fund for Area Agency on Aging 3 Foundation
  • Alma Jones Fund for Rawson New Hope United Methodist Church
  • Alma Jones Scholarship for Cory-Rawson FFA
