Harry and Hilda Miller Family Scholarship Established

September 08, 2017

The Community Foundation is pleased to announce the establishment of the Harry and Hilda Miller Family Scholarship fund. This scholarship is for a McComb High School graduating senior who will pursue a health-related field. The applicant must demonstrate a commitment to the well-being of the McComb community and schools.

The family of Harry and Hilda Miller established this scholarship in memory of their parents and grandparents. Mirroring the Millers’ contributions to the village of McComb, this scholarship will benefit a graduate of McComb High School who is committed to community and pursuing a career in a health-related field.

Harry and Hilda were both health care providers and passionate about their family and community. Hilda worked as a nurse until their four children were born. Harry followed in his father’s footsteps to become a doctor. Harry opened his practice in McComb in 1932, eventually establishing a 17-bed, 10-crib hospital in part of the family’s home. During his more than 50 years of practice, he made countless house calls, delivered over 2,000 babies, was team doctor for the McComb Panthers, and served as the Hancock County Health Commissioner.

A scholarship is an investment in your community’s future. The Findlay-Hancock County Community Foundation provides the expertise in administering the application process and awards scholarships to deserving students.
