The Gift of Fun
Fun for All FundAs the holiday season approaches, I am reminded of the joy that comes from gathering with family and friends, sharing experiences, and creating memories. At The Community Foundation, we believe fun is not a luxury; it’s an essential part of a vibrant, healthy community. Yet, for many families in Hancock County, finding affordable, family-friendly activities can be a challenge.
That’s why we launched Fun for All, a series of free community events designed to bring people together. Since its start in 2023, Fun for All has partnered with 31 local nonprofit organizations to host over 60 events, ranging from arts and theater to recreation and sports. These events have reached over half of Hancock County’s residents, 40,000 people, and the response has been overwhelming: our neighbors want more opportunities to connect, learn and play.
To make that possible, the Foundation created the Fun for All Fund. And this holiday season, we’re inviting you to join us in giving the gift of fun. From November 15 through December 20, every gift to the Fun for All Fund will be matched dollar for dollar, up to $100,000. That means your generosity goes twice as far in creating experiences that strengthen our community.
Consider the impact:
- A $25 gift becomes $50, enough to cover a free symphony performance for five children and their families.
- $50 becomes $100, enough to cover free programming and activities for 10 seniors.
- $100 becomes $200, enough to cover a free day of swimming for 100+ individuals.
Every contribution, large or small, helps ensure that fun remains accessible to everyone in Hancock County. Together, we can ensure that joy and connection are part of life for children, families, seniors, and young people across our community.
This season let’s double the fun. Visit the Fun for All Fund to make your gift today. Your support will help us continue building a community where everyone belongs and every family can share in the simple joy of play.
Thank you for joining us in this important work. When we invest in fun, we invest in the well-being of our neighbors, and that’s a gift worth giving.
