September for the Community

September is always a busy time of year at The Community Foundation, and the last few weeks have been no exception. With so much going on, I wanted to take a moment to give you a glimpse into a week in the life of our team. This is just a snapshot of the work we've been doing to serve our community.
This month, I've been focused on connecting with our partners and the broader community. I spent time preparing for the Philanthropy Ohio conference, speaking to UF’s DANA Scholars, and presenting to the Findlay Rotary Club. It's always a privilege to talk about the work we're doing and the impact we're having in Hancock County. I also hosted a coffee hour for our board to review grant requests to support our community.
My colleagues on the donor engagement team have been working diligently with our donors and their professional advisors to make charitable giving a reality. They've been busy, from hosting our annual advisor appreciation event to speaking at events to preparing our monthly gift acknowledgments. They also worked on preparing our spendable process, which is essential for helping our fundholders support the causes they care about most. Their work in the community ensures we continue to advance our mission as a foundation.
Our community engagement team is supporting our women’s giving circle, Handbags That Help, as they evaluate grants for the year, as well as preparing for Community Conversations, scheduling Fun for All events, and facilitating coaching sessions for local nonprofits. These connections help us understand the unique needs of our community so we can continue to be a strong partner.
Behind the scenes, the entire team is dedicated to ensuring we can serve you as efficiently as possible. This included working on video projects, preparing for some technology updates, and even hosting a Lilly Family School of Philanthropy class. We also had several internal team meetings to keep projects on track. All this work is crucial to our ability to connect with the community and make a lasting impact.
September was a busy yet rewarding month for all of us at the Foundation. But busy doesn’t just mean we’re occupying our time. Our month represents a deep and broad involvement in the community. I'm proud of our team's dedication, and we are honored to be your partner in improving the quality of life for everyone in Hancock County.
