30 Years of Scholarship Impact

As the President & CEO of The Findlay-Hancock County Community Foundation, I am incredibly proud to reflect on a remarkable milestone: 30 years of our scholarship program. For three decades, this program has been a cornerstone of our commitment to our mission of improving the quality of life for all in the community, directly enhancing educational opportunities for countless students and, in turn, the betterment of Hancock County.
Since its inception in 1994, our scholarship program has grown exponentially, fueled by the generosity of our community. We are honored to have supported approximately 2,800 student recipients and awarded nearly 5,700 scholarships. This is a total investment of over $7 million in the dreams and aspirations of local youth. These scholarships, administered through more than 160 scholarship funds, have empowered students to pursue higher education, vocational training, and specialized studies, equipping them with the knowledge and skills to thrive.
The impact of these scholarships extends far beyond academic achievements. Each scholarship awarded represents an investment in the future workforce, in community leaders, and the continued prosperity of Hancock County. Whether it's fostering the next generation of teachers, healthcare professionals, tradespeople, or entrepreneurs, our scholarship recipients are making tangible contributions right here at home and beyond. They are examples of how educational access can transform lives and strengthen communities.
None of this would be possible without the profound generosity of our donors, those who founded the scholarship funds and those who have supported them with gifts of all sizes throughout the years. Many have chosen to create scholarships in their family's name, or in honor of loved ones, leaving a legacy that will forever support deserving students. Because of your giving, scholarships are a permanent source of support for generations to come. We are grateful for your partnership and trust in our ability to connect your philanthropic goals with this need in our community.
Beyond our donors, we also extend our gratitude to the more than 200 dedicated community volunteers who generously contribute hundreds of hours annually to evaluate scholarship applications. Their attention and thoughtful consideration ensure these awards are given to deserving students, truly embodying the spirit of community support.
The Community Foundation believes investing in education is investing in our shared future. By removing financial barriers, together we empower students to reach their full potential, contributing to a more educated, skilled and vibrant community for everyone. Students then achieve their academic goals, return to contribute their talents locally, and inspire others to pursue their own higher educations.
We invite you to learn more about establishing a scholarship fund or donating to an existing fund to make a difference in the lives of future local students. Your generosity will help us continue to build a stronger, brighter future for all. Learn more about our scholarship program here.
