Community Foundation Awards $875K in Grants

The Findlay-Hancock County Community Foundation Board of Trustees approved grants totaling $875,360.83 at the August board meeting. This total includes 11 responsive grants and 119 donor advised fund grants.

“As we continue our mission to improve the quality of life for all in the community, these grants represent the many areas in which we do this work: parks, recreation, access to school supplies, services to those in need, and more,” said Brian Treece, President & CEO of The Community Foundation. “In addition, our annual grant for organizational strengthening was approved, which provides our community engagement team the resources they need to help us work to strengthen area nonprofits.”

Responsive Grants

Responsive grants are awarded to organizations that meet community needs and match The Community Foundation's goals and objectives. Grantseekers must submit a written grant proposal for consideration. Applications are reviewed four times per year.

Funding for responsive grants comes from our Community’s Endowment, which comprises Funds for the Common Good and Field of Interest Funds established by donors at The Community Foundation. The following responsive grants were approved by the Board of Trustees, made possible by our Community’s Endowment:

  • Children’s Museum of Findlay was awarded $35,000 to support ADA-compliant updates for the new facility.
  • The Community Foundation was awarded $246,350 for the Organizational Strengthening program to support nonprofits in 2027.
  • Imagine for Youth Foundation was awarded $10,000 for services for underserved youth in Findlay.
  • On Target Outfitters was awarded $6,784 to support the expansion of an archery program for youth and adults.
  • Northwest Ohio Railroad Preservation was awarded $6,308 to support Opening Weekend and the Touch a Truck event in partnership with the Children’s Museum of Findlay as part of the Fun for All series of free community events.
  • Village of Arlington was awarded $975 for free pool days as part of the Foundation’s Fun for All series of free community events.
  • Village of Benton Ridge was awarded $4,000 to support the Red, White, Boo event this fall as part of the Fun for All series of free community events.
  • Village of McComb was awarded $2,250 for free pool days as part of the Foundation’s Fun for All series of free community events.
  • Village of Mt. Blanchard was awarded two grants:
    • $4,000 to support a synthetic ice rink for Christmas in the Village as part of the Fun for All series of free community events.
    • $1,300 for free pool days as part of the Foundation’s Fun for All series of free community events.
  • United Way of Fostoria was awarded $1,000 to support a back-to-school community-wide event in August as part of the as part of the Fun for All series of free community events.

Donor Advised Grants

Individuals, families or corporations establish donor advised funds to recommend grants to nonprofits they’re passionate about. The Foundation vets the nonprofits and awards grants. The following donor advised grants were awarded:

  • 119 grants to 71 organizations totaling $557,393.83.
