The John D. "Doc" Holladay Culinary Arts Scholarship

The John D. (“Doc”) Holladay Culinary Arts Scholarship was established by John D. Holladay. John was born in McComb, Ohio in 1941 to Wilma and Carl Holladay. He graduated from McComb High School and attended Henry Ford College. In 1959, John joined the United States Air Force, where he served for 4 years as an Air Policeman. John also served with the US Navy in Guantanamo Bay from 1966-1968. Following John’s time in the service he moved to Alabama, where he lived for 32 years until coming back to McComb in 2008. John has fond memories of cooking in the kitchen with his mother as a child and is very passionate about culinary arts. The purpose of this scholarship fund is to assist a Hancock County graduate who is pursuing a career in the culinary arts.

Standards for Determining Eligibility

  • The applicant must be a graduating senior of OR graduate of ­­­­­­­­a high school located in Hancock County or a home schooled or online student who resided in Hancock County.
  • The applicant must be pursuing a career in the culinary arts.
  • Applicant must be a citizen of the United States of America.
  • Financial need may be a consideration.
  • Any student who receives a full scholarship that includes all of the fees normally payable by policy of the Community Foundation will not qualify for this Scholarship.
