John and Pauline lived life to the fullest with many interests. They were passionate about faith, family, history, gardening and nature.

Active and dedicated volunteers in the community, John and Pauline invested time in the First Presbyterian Church, the Historical Society, Habitat for Humanity, the Christian Clearinghouse, the Garden Club, the Antique Club to name a few. They were particularly interested in organizations dealing with history and gardening. They were active members of First Presbyterian Church for more than 50 years.

John retired from Marathon Oil Company and achieved Master Gardener title in his retirement and Pauline worked in later years as a nurse in the Findlay Public Schools. They were proud parents of three, grandparents of nine with three great-grandsons.

Standards for Determining Eligibility of Students

  • The applicant must plan to be a full-time student enrolled at an accredited two- or four-year college, university or technical school.
  • The applicant must be a graduating senior of Findlay High School or a home school or online student who resides in Findlay City School District.
  • The applicant must have maintained a minimum cumulative 3.0 GPA in high school.
  • The applicant must be able to demonstrate participation in community/volunteer service.
  • Applicant must be a resident of the United States of America.
  • Financial need may be a consideration.
  • Any student who receives a full scholarship that includes all of the fees normally payable by policy of The Community Foundation will not qualify for this scholarship.
