Neil Acharya Memorial Tennis Scholarship
Neil was a young man with many talents. He was active in
academics and extra curricular activities throughout his life.
He played soccer from age five and became an accomplished player
and captained his team to victory many times. He played for the
Findlay High School Tennis team for four years and the Golf team
for a year. Neil was named
Sportsman of the Year
for the tennis team
in 2000. He played classical piano for eight years and
performed his solo recital at the age of ten. With a Black Belt
in Tae Kwon Do, he won many trophies competing in regional and
national tournaments. He published many articles during his
high school years as a writer/reporter for the national
award-winning High School newspaper Blue and Gold.
President of the Medical Explorer's Club (2000), Neil
volunteered at the local surgical center and shadowed local
doctors during his high school years. Neil graduated from
Findlay High School in 2002.
Despite his busy schedule with a competitive pre-med program,
Neil found time to do volunteer work at various local
organizations. He was on the Board with Circle K for two
years. He also volunteered every week at the Inner City Dayton
Day Care Center, Habitat for Humanity and the Ohio Reads program
for two years. Despite his contributions to the community, he
made the Academic Dean’s list every quarter during his two years
of college at Wright State University. He had a nearly perfect
GPA through his junior year of the pre-med program at WSU.
