Donor-Advised Grants
Getting Started with Your Donor-Advised Fund
Grants are paid to organizations recognized by the Internal Revenue Service as tax-exempt public charities. You may suggest a grant to any public charity located in the United Sates, including your place of worship, public libraries and most educational institutions.
The Findlay-Hancock County Community Foundation cannot distribute grants to foreign charitable organizations. We can, however, make grants to U.S. public charities that fund and support foreign charitable activities.
How Your Suggestions are Processed
-
Simply fax or email the completed
Donor-Advised Grant Recommendation Form. A minimum grant size of $250 is suggested for all grants made from donor-advised funds.
-
Unless otherwise noted, grants are for general support and
we will notify the recipient organization that there are no special instructions for the gift
-
Please indicate if the grant suggestion is to celebrate a special occasion such as a birthday or anniversary; or is in
honor or memory of a friend, colleague, or family member.
-
If the grant is a honorarium/memorial,
we will inform the organizations receiving the grant as well as the person honored, or
family of the person who is memorialized.
-
Unless you request anonymity, the recipient charity will be informed of the name of the fund and the advisor.
-
Once the recommendation is received by The Community Foundation,
we will gather information to ensure the organization is a viable nonprofit
organization and is eligible to receive the grant. You will be notified if an eligibility issue arises.
-
The Board of Directors of The Community Foundation maintains final authority and will approve all
donor-advised fund grants.
-
Check and grant award letter will be mailed directly to the recipient organization. There may a delay if the organization does not respond in a timely manner to information requests.
-
The donor-advisor will receive copies of the signed letter returned by the organization upon receipt by The Community Foundation.
